I was listening to Pandora today and the band 'Of Montreal' came along. My favorite song of the week is now " Wraith Pinned To The Mist & Other Games". It has some lovey electronica and 60's groove influences going on. Go immediatly to iTunes and give it a listen.

Lisa to the rescue

I came home this evening as I normally do -- through the garage/basement, up the back stairs and came  to a locked back door. I frantically turned the knob again and again. Why not go through your front door, you ask? Our contractor has my house keys locked up in a realtor box so he can get in. I texted Erik... 'locked out. when are you home?' i knew full well that he wouldn't be home until 11pm. (Don't be scared, I'm on the computer, so I'm ok.) He didn't get back to me right away so I panicked and dug into the emergency kit and started eating "chicken spread" from a can on saltines. Note: must buy real food for earthquake kit. Luckily, Erik got back to me, called his life-saving sister who drove over with the spare set.

There are just too many lessons learned here to list them out.

I was going through photos this evening and pulled together camping pics to make an iphoto book for some friends. I came across this pic of Pamela & Gerry's cute as a button dog, Ginger.

I just might have to steal her.

napkin = pillow

I found these wicked awesome jonathan adler napkins at bedbathandbeyond a while back. Tonight I decide to make pillows out of them, complete with a zipper!

I sewed while watching a great documentary on the band Sigur Ros called Heima. I highly recommend -- stunning visuals of the Icelandic landscape, haunting music and humble talented musicians.

putting the puzzle back together

I made a crazy two page to do list for myself this weekend. It felt so good to check things off and start to get the rooms back in order.

I hung artwork in the dining room and also put the curtains and rods back up. Quite a job as I needed to hem all the panels since the new crown molding pushed everything down a few inches.

The cabinets were roughed out today. Just another week or so for the details, staining and window replacement.

carpooling, day 2

I've broken up with the ferry and turned to carpooling with G & P in an effort to save funds. Yes, with gas prices I will still be saving more than $100 a month.

Carpooling is making for some interesting sightings. Today is was a red Prius with 3 antennas, one of which was 5 feet high and attached to a bumper contraption...alien communication or ham radio obsession??

Day one included newish, but sad looking car that had been vandalized -- the words 'free paint job!' were spray painted all along the drivers side.

antique fair

I was up at 5am today to go to the antique fair in Alameda with Lisa, Patsy and Aislinn. I picked up a small bright orange step trash can and this fabulous painting:

Cubs Win

Went to see to Cubs beat the Giants, 9 to 2, on Monday! Had a great time with Melanie & Mark and Pamela & Gerry. We had dinner first and some lovely pitchers of margaritas at Tres Agaves.

fireplace build - part 4

Project update: The crown molding is complete and the wood burning insert was installed today. You can also see that I tested out some paint colors -- pale green around windows and a darker green in what will be the t.v. nook. Not sold on the colors just yet.
