window film
I have these 2 great windows on either side of the fireplace, but they don't offer much privacy so I've decided to put up windowm film. There's a great company in the UK that has some really modern designs.
Here are the windows now.
And here is the design I ordered. I'll post the "after" in a couple weeks.
Decorating for Christmas
I have some Christmas decorations up, but you will have to excuse the blue painters tape on the OUTSIDE of the windows. I can't reach it so we'll have to live with it till E can get a ladder up there.
The Pig
I am enamored with the Harry Allen Pig and while I'm not a person usually drawn to gold or pigs, I have to say that I really love this little guy.

I opened my Sunday paper last week and noticed the cover of the real estate section featured an article about my town. As I took a closer look trying to figure out which hill they photographed, I realized that was MY hill and there was the backside of my house!
fireplace build - part 6
If you've been waiting for the big reveal, it's finally here. The cabinets, tv and the new windows are in! So much ligh -- again, I ask...why cover windows with drywall AND fake paneling?
I still need to paint the window surround, but you can get the picture. The stain may look a bit dark in this photo, but it matches the floor inlay and the front door on the opposite wall.
I can't believe this was the room when we first saw the house with our Realtor!!
So long carpet and false wall paneling. Good bye hideous drapes and non-working fireplace.

I received the nicest email from Terry B. today. She read my blog yesterday then emailed me to say she appreciated my style (house postings). She mentioned that she has a hard time mixing random pieces. I too thought mixing my vintage-modern-danish pieces with the traditional marble coffee table from mom looked random. But now that the house is coming together I'm liking it more and more. Now I have a category for my style...retro chic.
Raise Your Knives
I was cleaning out kitchen drawers this morning and I found our old knife holder that I meant to put up when we moved in. Now this little kitchen corner is complete with knives, toaster and deer.
